Incomprehensible

Today I am guest posting over on my friends Justin and Trisha Davis’ blog, RefineUs. To be honest, when Justin asked me if I’d be willing to write a post, I got nervous, really nervous. I knew that they wouldn’t be looking for a fluffy little post. I knew they would want me to reveal some parts of my heart that I wouldn’t be completely comfortable sharing. And I knew I had to say yes.

A few nights later, Justin emailed me details about what they were looking for…

There are people who read our blog that have tried their best but their marriages that haven’t made it. There are people that have tried for years to find the right person, and for whatever reason God hasn’t brought that person along. There are people who have done everything right, and have been disappointed by God, or by how their life has played out, up to this point.

It’s easy for me to write about second chances, because I’ve been given one by my wife…but not everyone story plays out like that. So my thought was to have each of you, as singles share perspective of how to experience God when life doesn’t go like you’ve planned…through waiting, through hurt and betrayal, through disappointment, through success, through failure…how have you learned to experience God where you are right now. On Brands

1957_Heinz_Ketchup_ad_by_yankeedog

I usually don’t pay that much attention to brands.

I just buy whatever is cheapest, or most convenient.

But I must go on record saying that there are a few notable exceptions. There are a handful of brands that I am happy to spend more money on, brands that I go out of my way to consume.

Soft Drinks: Coke or Dr. Pepper

Bottled Water: Smart Water

Make-Up: Laura Mercier

Deodorant: Dove

Toothpaste: Colgate

Personal Computer: Mac

Fast-Food: Chick-Fil-A

I Wonder…

Pizzeria Pizza Sign, Italian Restaurant, Venice Italy

Why poodles have hair instead of fur.

If Younglifers still sing “Light the Fire” and “Amazing Grace” to the tune of “Peaceful Easy Feeling.”

If I ate a whole 5 lb. bag of M&M’s how much weight I’d gain. 5 lbs.?

Why pizza and ice cream taste so much better in Italy.

And I wonder…

What surprises God has in store for me. (more…)

On Blogging…

Today I am guest posting over at Fuel Your Blogging

Start. Launch. Go. Begin. Commence. BLOG!

A little over a year ago, I told a few friends that I wanted to start a blog. They looked at me in utter disbelief and said, “What are you going to write about?” They might as well have asked, “What in the world do YOU have to say?” Feeling a little defeated, I answered, “I’m not really sure, I just want to try it and see if I like it.”

Candidly, when I began blogging, I had no clue… (click here to continue reading)

God Calling?

iStock_000002773290Small

One Sunday morning in high school, I visited a neighboring church with a friend. And even though it was A REALLY LONG TIME AGO, I remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember it because it was the first time I heard Christianity and predestination pitched in a way that I thought, “I don’t believe that. I don’t believe that at all.”

As the youth pastor wrapped up his Sunday School lesson, he compared God calling us to a telephone ringing. He went on to say that if our phone was ringing, we should pick it up. Because we never knew if and when our phone was going to stop ringing.

I’m all for people answering when God is calling them.

But I can’t imagine anyone picking up the phone and saying, “God…God… are you there God?” Only to be greeted with silence, because God has conveniently moved on to someone else.

What do you think? Can you make sense of this analogy?

Change is in the Air

Can you feel it? The change that is in the air?

Today is the first day of Spring. And even though it is not warm outside, I can feel Spring settling in.

Something happens as the flowers bloom, as the trees display glorious signs of life, as our hearts mourn the impending death of a Savior and revel in His game-changing resurrection. Yes, something happens…life speeds up.

For a girl who is always on-the-go, this winter was sort of a self-imposed hibernation. Literally, I only ventured out of Nashville once all winter.

And just as I have begun to feel rested, rejuvenated, and restored after the craziness of the holidays, Spring is about to send my calm, serene existence sailing. (more…)

Under Construction

Maquinaria pesada

I have decided to tweak, and possibly reconstruct, lindseynobles.com. For a few days, it is going to be a little messy around here. I hope you will forgive me.

And please feel free to make any comments or suggestions. I want any changes to be an IMPROVEMENT.

I Am…

Powered by Hope

On Saturday, April 24, I will be running (actually it will be more of a jog/walk combo per the Galloway method but who cares about the specifics) the Country Music Half Marathon.

This is not my first half marathon and hopefully it will not be my last, but it is important nonetheless. This year I am running with “Powered by Hope” on behalf of New Hope Academy.

If you have never heard of New Hope Academy, let me take this opportunity to introduce to this incredible place.

New Hope Academy is like NO OTHER school I have stepped inside. (more…)

Distorted

This morning at Cross PointPete Wilson talked about our greatest temptation as Christians. He said, “Our greatest temptation is not that which is ridiculously evil, but that which is deceptively good.”

Oh, how that rings true in my life. Oh, how I seem to place too much importance on WHATEVER is going well in my life. Oh, how I love to distort my blessings.

My career, my relationships, my church, my family, my online community, my wealth, my health, my comfortable existence – each are blessings. Each are blessings that I have ungratefully distorted. Each are blessings I have ungratefully distorted by making them seemingly MORE IMPORTANT than He who so generously bestowed them on me. (more…)
