Change is in the Air

Can you feel it? The change that is in the air?

Today is the first day of Spring. And even though it is not warm outside, I can feel Spring settling in.

Something happens as the flowers bloom, as the trees display glorious signs of life, as our hearts mourn the impending death of a Savior and revel in His game-changing resurrection. Yes, something happens…life speeds up.

For a girl who is always on-the-go, this winter was sort of a self-imposed hibernation. Literally, I only ventured out of Nashville once all winter.

And just as I have begun to feel rested, rejuvenated, and restored after the craziness of the holidays, Spring is about to send my calm, serene existence sailing.

Over the next two months, I have seven (yes, SEVEN) trips planned. This Spring, I will introduce my nieces to the beauty of the Texas Hill Country and the “weirdness” of Austin; I will take in two conferences (Catalyst West and Q); I will finish (fingers-crossed) a half marathon with a host of friends; I will celebrate an engagement and the joyful birth of a baby; and I will squeeze myself into a bridesmaids’ dress so I can watch one of my best friends walk down the aisle.

It’s going to be an adventure. And I can’t wait…

What does this Spring have in store for you?

I'm going to be attending a writing conference for the first time thing spring. I really believe that it will change my life. I really think God has something there for me. What it is…I don't know. But I'm eager to see what He does even if it's only educate me more on the writing process.

so glad you've got such goodness to look forward to in your spring!

mine will mostly be overwhelmingly filled with a massive fundraising trip for thrive. but God's gift to me in that is getting to spend time with friends (lots of first-face-time visits!) all along the way.

    oh, and there's also that half-marathon business…

can't wait to see you at the finish line, linds!

Spring always brings graduation for my senior English students–I have just over two months to cram some British Lit into their heads. Their senior projects will be complete soon, so Dickens and/or Shakespeare will take center stage.

For me personally, I should finish writing my book on my blog before the first day of summer–a year ago, it was only a gleam in my eyes. And, I will be attending the Women of Faith Conference in Columbus, Ohio, and I am looking forward to that. So, my spring looks great. Here's hoping the same for everyone!

I loved high school English because of my amazing teachers. I am sure your students will look back on their experience in your class with the same appreciation.

Jealous that you get to go to WOF-Columbus. I tried to make one of the Spring conferences work in my schedule but I couldn't figure it out. I will have to wait until Fall.

You should have been here in Phoenix today. It was a perfect, warm spring day. Won't remain that way too long…triple digit temps just around the corner.

Spring not holding too much. No babies being born. No weddings. Hopefully a relaxing time.

This spring I look forward to getting 'me' back. After a long season of a much diluted version of myself and a very low key lifestyle, I have just started new medication for Crohn's. I look forward to regaining energy, to returning to work, to being a more energetic wife, friend, blogger and commenter, to just taking JOY in all of life again! For now and until then, I'm learning that it's ok to be where I am and that this is as much a part of God's plan as anything. I am learning patience and peace. I pray I don't forget it all when this slow season is over!

Loving the new look, btw! :)

BEAUTIFULLY put. I heart Spring. Full of newness.

Have fun introducing your nieces to the hill country! Wish the husband would let go of this Dallas thing & let us move there, but that isn't happening. If near Johnson City – (sans nieces or with other adult companions) – I recommend the Orange Moscato at Texas Hills Vineyard!

    Enjoy!

Cool post, Lindsey! I, too, feel change in the air as Spring rolls in. The past couple of months have been pretty gut-wrenching in many ways and I'm praying to see a lot of visible, tangible changes to coincide and co-sign with the changes that have been taking place in my heart. I've already seen some and am hoping to see more very soon.

Spring – other than allergies, it brings a much needed retreat with gals from my church, possibly meeting an online friend face to face, and the completion of Beth Moore's Breaking Free study! My batteries should be good and charged until fall!

In the next 4 months, my husband and I will both turn 30, he’ll graduate with his BA after 10 years, our 4th child will be born and we’ll watch my little brother get married. So many exciting things to look

    Catalyst & Q … wishin' I could go, too!

This spring, I'm squeezing into a bridesmaid dress, too! … The good thing, I got to choose (she offered!) … so, I went with pewter!

I'm also going to (hopefully) enter a short film contest… Still working on it…

And of course, gonna start walking off those winter bagels… hmmm… butter and blackberry jam… they kept me comfy and happy…

btw, how're you feeling about the "construction"? :)

Feeling okay about the construction. Still some tweaking needed but I was ready to simplify so Standard Themes was a great solution. I also am going to have a friend that is a photographer redo the picture of me. Can't wait for it to have a little more personality! What do you think? Feel free to be harsh.

As of next week, I'll be leaving sunny Orlando to head back to the small town of Cleveland, TN and a new job. In some ways, it is a new adventure, because of the new opportunity and new family. At the same time, I lived there for more than 14 years, so I know the place like the back of my hand. If there is anything left to discover, the main mysteries will be – how much has it changed and how much have I changed?
